The Moon’s A Harsh Mistress
A story of unresolved self discovery, told as a narrative through the 1969 moon landing. Inspiration taken from The Moon is Trans, a poem by Joshua Jennifer Espinoza, and John Hollenbeck’s arrangement of The Moon’s A Harsh Mistress
The collection from the outset was a narrative, the creative process tracing characters looking with unsure desire from earth, engineering their way there, traveling, setting foot, leaving scars, and ultimately ending rebuked by the moon herself.
The visual inspiration below was taken from ethereal landscapes, folkloric imagery, and primary source photo documentation of the Apollo missions.
