This Swedish version of The Little Mermaid featured new characters and original music
The costumes for this production were designed by Wilberth Gonzalez. Each was themed around a different fantastical sea creature made of a combination of glittering and beaded fabrics. Velvet mermaid skirts were used to achieve the fantasy of floating tails while allowing the actors to dance.
After completing the principle myself, I worked along side a team of stitchers as a first hand, coordinating every detail of the design, and coming up with variations of tails and fins to make each mermaid unique.
The Prince character in this version of the Little Mermaid turns into a mermaid.
This costume was a reveal - the directors wanted him to transform on into his final on stage. Because of this, he could not have as grand of a tail design, and everything needed to be as flat as possible.
